Mike has been teaching science and math on the Northern Front Range since 2002, with a focus on chemistry and physics. He holds a Bachelor's in Physics from the University of Texas and a PhD in science education from the University of Colorado — a background that shapes how he guides as much as how he teaches, always looking for the "why" behind what's happening on the water.

He picked up a fly rod in 2000 and started guiding in 2004, spending summers ever since putting anglers on Front Range trout, bass, and carp. He's also logged plenty of time chasing tarpon, permit, and bonefish on saltwater flats, bringing that range of experience to every trip, freshwater or salt.

Mike is married with three kids who love fishing just as much as he does. Whether you're a first-timer or chasing a personal best, his priority is the same: make sure you have a great time, feel supported while you're learning, and — ideally — put an amazing fish in the net.
