Mike has been teaching high school science and math on the Front Range since 2002, with a focus on physics and chemistry. He holds a B.S. in Physics from the University of Texas and a Ph.D. in Science Education from the University of Colorado — a background that shapes how he guides as much as how he teaches. Mike brings time tested principles to all learning environments and understands that learning by doing, rather than listening to someone lecture, is the key to quality learning.

Mike has loved fishing since he was a kid exploring the lakes and streams of Washington state. He started fly fishing in 2000, and guiding in Rocky Mountain National Park in 2004 during summers off from teaching. Mike's goals for himself and his clients on the water have evolved from wanting to catch more and bigger fish, to seeking an experience that reveals beauty and rhythms of nature and to mentoring the next generation of ethical anglers and stewards of our wild places.

Mike is married with three kids who love fishing just as much as he does. This passion has taken them to chase fish throughout the Rockies, Canada, and the tropics. Mike is excited to understand your fishing goals and to tailor an experience just for you!
